The original Papunya Tula Artists certificates stated in part: ‘The roundel at the centre of the painting depicts a small rockhole in the centre of a salt lake at the site of Marnpi to the south east of the Kintore community.

The background designer represents the sandhill country which surrounds the site. Marnpi is the artist’s birthplace but his family moved from when he was a small boy.’
