Since establishing Deutscher and Hackett in January 2007, after decades of involvement in the Australian art industry, Chris Deutscher and Damian Hackett have sold over $390 million of art through auction. With galleries and offices in both Melbourne and Sydney our sole focus is the sale of high-quality Australian and International fine art. Deutscher and Hackett has a wealth of experience in handling major, high-value works of art at auction with continued success from specifically targeting private collectors and museum curators to ensure competitive outcomes.

Since 2007, many new auction records have been set with numerous transactions exceeding the $ 1 million mark and eight sales exceeding the $ 2 million mark for major works by Arthur Streeton, Russell Drysdale, Ian Fairweather, Sidney Nolan, Fred Williams and John Peter Russell. Significantly, within the Australian art market, Deutscher and Hackett has achieved the highest price at live auction for the last four consecutive years.

Moreover, in 2022 Deutscher and Hackett achieved the highest annual turnover of any auction house in Australian history ($52.7M), and we continue to attract top quality results with Deutscher and Hackett’s recent Important Australian + International Fine Art auction in August 2023 realising the highest turnover for a single, mixed vendor auction in Australia and confirming Deutscher and Hackett’s position as market leaders.
