Catalogue text

This painting is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tjungu Palya Arts that states: ‘This is the true story of those two women from Piltati. They were digging for a big kuniya (carpet python) that was really wati kutjara (two men). While the men were underground they were painting. The women kept digging and hit the kuniya with their wana (digging stick) then the wanampi rose from the hole and ate the women.’
