Catalogue text

This painting is accompanied by documentation with an annotated diagram and interpretation of the imagery prepared by Geoffrey Bardon which states: 'The grid like uniformity in this pattern represents a map journey where the concentric circles depict significant places and the linking lines imply journey or travelling in between across the landscape. The pattern is a stylised map possibly of an immense area and the simple colour methods and dotting decorative pattern date this work as an archetypal example of sand mosaic motifs, of fundamental meanings, only, to be included.'
