Catalogue text

These cloths have great protective and exorcistic power and are usedin rites of passage. The colours white, red, yellow and green correlate with the Hindu deitiesIswara, Brahma, Mahadewa, Wisnu and Siwa. The row of white arrowheads along the sides are referred to as gigi barong, the teeth of the protective Barong spirit.
