This painting is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Red Rock Art which states: 'Warla is a place in the Great Sandy Desert south west of Balgo Hills in Northern Western Australia. The artist describes the country as 'flat like an airport.' It contains hundreds of rock holes, many of which are sacred burial places and many are sacred waterholes crucial to survival. If travelling through this area, Billy says 'you really should go right around'. When the big rains come, the flat expanse becomes a lake and as the water recedes, the rock holes are renewed with fresh water.'
