The Australian Heritage Commission exhibition catalogue which accompanies this painting states: ‘This painting depicts Awelye (body paint design) which is related to the Mountain devil Lizard (Anycerthe) and to Gloria’s traditional lands, Anungura near Utopia. This area has had and always will have special significance to the traditional owners and should be protected.’
