This memory painting was one of eight exhibited in the closing show of the Johnstone Gallery, Brisbane - A Time Remembered. The theme of the exhibition was chosen by Blackman and his pictures were all on very dark grounds with painted 'picture postcard' borders. A companion of this painting, Girl Listening to Music now hangs in the Sydney Opera House.
